WSCRC Co-Hosted Washington State–China Provinces Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum

On May 13, 2026, the Washington State China Relations Council , in partnership with the Washington State Department of Commerce and the Trade Development Bureau of China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), co-hosted the Washington State–China Provinces Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum in Seattle.

The forum brought together government officials, business leaders, trade and investment professionals, and company representatives from Washington State and China to explore opportunities for trade, investment, and economic cooperation.

The program featured perspectives from both Washington State and China on trade, investment, and business opportunities. Discussions on the Washington side highlighted the state’s trade and port infrastructure, clean technology ecosystem, agriculture sector, and opportunities for companies looking to do business with China. Participants also shared practical experiences related to importing from and exporting to China, as well as navigating the opportunities and challenges of doing business with Chinese partners.

Representatives from China provided perspectives on trade and investment opportunities in China, including opportunities for international investment and cooperation. The program also featured presentations from Chinese companies highlighting their businesses and international expansion interests, including technology and cultural industries. These presentations offered Washington participants a closer look at potential areas for commercial collaboration and investment.

The forum concluded with an open discussion and business-to-business networking, providing participants with an opportunity to exchange ideas, identify potential areas for cooperation, and explore follow-up opportunities.

WSCRC was pleased to help bring together leaders and businesses from Washington State and China for this timely exchange. At a time when the broader U.S.-China relationship remains complex and challenging, opportunities for dialogue and practical engagement at the state, provincial, and business levels remain important.
