由华盛顿州中国总商会CCCWA、 华中基金会WSCRF和清华GIX北美中心联合主办的“Food With Love”大西雅图地区爱心午餐行动，在轰轰烈烈进行了几个月的爱心接力后，终于到达了胜利的终点。7月24日，活动主办方负责人、志愿者、市政代表、受捐单位代表欢聚一堂，用一个简单而充满爱的线上庆祝来为本次爱心活动画上圆满句号。整个爱心午餐活动共送出  21661份爱心午餐，价值41.1万美元，受赠单位35家。本次活动让大家深刻地感受到，心中有爱，眼里有光，即使在漫长的疫情期间，也能感受到世界的美好。

虽然突如其来的新冠病毒威胁我们的家园，然而病毒传播的速度再快，也赶不上我们爱心传播的速度。“爱心午餐”活动从开始的几个餐厅自发捐赠爱心餐，到西雅图最有影响力的十几家中餐厅共同上阵；从开始只有CCCWA牵头，到后来WSCRF华中基金会和清华GIX基金会联合主办；从餐厅捐赠到新移民之家等社团捐赠、社会各界捐赠；从捐送医护人员到如今捐赠给医护人员、警察、防疫人员等更多一线抗疫工作者……让这场爱心活动的影响力以如电光之照耀，带着满满的爱迅速蔓延，并在社会上引起极大的反响与好评，成为西雅图抗疫阶段最有影响力的品牌公益活动之一。

线上庆祝活动在WSCRC副会长王蔓女士主持下开始。首先CCCWA会长吕莉莉先对本次活动进行了总结：“这次爱心行动最初目标是向一线抗疫人员送出价值40万美元的爱心餐，截至5月31日已超额完成。第一阶段目标完成后，第二阶段又提出了‘你们帮助他们，我们帮助你们’ 的新目标，呼吁社会各界继续捐款支持已经参与热心义捐的餐厅，用所得善款补贴餐厅所捐餐食的部分成本，现在也都顺利完成目标。”她感慨：“这场爱心接力的几个月时间中，发生了很多让人热泪盈眶的故事，从曾经的受助者到如今也给爱心午餐献爱心的捐赠者，到人在国内只心系西雅图素未蒙面就放心捐赠的爱心人士，再到在Chowbus平台上匿名购买爱心盒饭的用户，每一个故事都是活动中的一个闪光点，把我们每个人的小爱心变成大爱心，成为一个爱的整体，一个爱的社区。”

活动发起人之一、志愿者团队法律小组组长蔡清律师介绍了活动的发起缘由、法律事务的处理等问题，为活动顺利完成感到欣慰，财务组组长李晓艳代表西雅图地产投资俱乐部和阳光青少年基金会参加志愿者工作，她介绍本次活动得到了社会各界的捐赠，共收到现金捐款63579.5美金。其中通过阳光青少年基金会募捐到38979.5美金，通过WSCRF募捐到24600美金。美国经纬投资公司的代表李若垚、张硕伉俪在活动一开始，就率先领捐10000美金；The rieschel foundation  捐赠20000美金；西雅图新移民之家 捐赠6000美金；拓宏房地产开发有限公司捐赠6000美金；还有很多个人捐款。募捐组组长那济源先生感谢了包括来辉武先生等众多个人捐赠者，文宣组组长Grace Gu女士感谢了活动过程中得到的多家媒体的持续关注和报道。

捐赠单位美国经纬投资公司的代表李若垚也从国内参加了本次庆祝活动：“被爱心活动中每一位参与者的精神所感动，面对共同的危机，能够和大家站在一起携手抗击疫情，共同完成一个公益目标而感到开心自豪。”

这次活动有35个受赠单位，外联任务非常繁重，社区贡献奖唯一获奖个人外联组长Sylvia Chin讲述了这几个月来与医院等机构的联络故事。网站负责人Rhea Chen 、Kevin Zhang以大学生和高中生志愿者的身份参加活动，她们的工作热情和效率令人感动和赞叹。

这次活动能够成功，最主要的捐赠来自于13家爱心餐厅，快乐小羊（原小肥羊）餐厅代表Anne Zhu，刘一手负责人Jason Huang、沸腾鱼乡创始人Lucy Gao，IJ Sushi Burrito创始人Kevin He、颐和园北京烤鸭店店长Patrick Ho代表13家参加活动的餐厅发言，他们回忆起参加此次活动的初衷、在活动过程中遇到的困难、在活动过程中和志愿者团队一起建立的友谊、完成目标时的喜悦，以及感受到的来自整个社区的爱心，这一切使这段经历分外难忘。他们的肺腑之言“虽然疫情给餐饮行业带来了前所未有的重创，但是此时我们想到的不是自己能否存活下来，而是担心一线抗疫工作者的安危，只有他们安全了，才能更好地守护我们，这也是过去几个月中我们坚持的动力。”Chowbus负责人Michelle 说：“很高兴和大家共同实现了这个目标。虽然在配送爱心餐中遇到很多挑战与困难，但是我们都一一克服，胜利地完成本次配送任务。”

受捐机构代表Swedish Health Services 多元化项目经理Jae Lim和International Community Health Services 健康中心经理Braden Hirasawa也发言对活动表示感谢，他们说，这些非常美味的爱心餐品，让受捐助的医护人员感激不尽，让他们感受到来自华人社区的爱心。

为此次活动助力不少的新移民之家会长栾逢喜祝贺此次活动圆满成功，并介绍移民之家成立于2014年，已经有超过一千个家庭会员，新移民之家的众多会员在此次疫情中参与移民之家组织的多个抗疫活动。

协办单位西雅图创业协会会长聂倩倩说：“西雅图创业协会在看到爱心午餐倡议书被感染和感动，也发挥一臂之力帮助本次活动。”

“爱心午餐”活动至此完美落下帷幕，但是因爱而相识、聚集在一起的人们不会走散。经过几个月的并肩作战，大家都已经成为密切可信赖的伙伴，相信这支爱心队伍还将继续走下去，而爱心午餐活动的影响力也将一直留在华人齐心抗疫的丰碑中。再次感谢这群心中有爱、眼里有光的可爱可敬的人们。

On June 12, 2020, a truckload of 200,000 masks arrived at the Washington state’s warehouse, after a three-week long journey from Beijing, China. These masks, donated by the Tsinghua University Education Foundation (TUEF), was the third PPE donation the Washington State China Relations Fund accepted on behalf of the city or the state to help fight Covid-19. The other two were mask donations from the City of Hangzhou and the City of Shenzhen to the City of Seattle.

We send our sincere thanks to Tsinghua GIX for coordinating with TUEF. The successful arrival of the masks would not have been possible without Expeditors International’s support. They provided pro-bono service to help us clear the customs duty-free.

The donated masks will be delivered to Eastern Washington to support farm workers and to help slow the outbreak.

Schuyler Hoss, Director of International Affairs and Protocol at the Governor’s Office, expressed the state’s appreciation to the TUEF and looked forward to continued collaboration between Washington state and Tsinghua University. He also commended the Washington State China Relations Council and Tsinghua GIX for their facilitation of this donation, and for their efforts to foster stronger ties between Washington state and China.

西雅图地区抗疫以来备受瞩目的“爱心午餐行动”，随着华中基金会WSCRF和清华GIX北美中心的联袂加入，已经正式走向胜利冲刺阶段。

The Food with Love Program, which has drawn tremendous attention in the Seattle region, is making its final push after joining forces with the Washington State China Relations Fund (WSCRF) and Tsinghua GIX North America.

这次公益行动最初目标是向一线抗疫人员送出价值40万美元的爱心餐，截至5月31日已超额完成 —- 餐厅全额捐餐17,620份，价值约32万美元；后续募集现金6.24万美元，已向餐厅购餐5,062份。目前总共已送出20,878份，到达26个医疗机构、警察消防等一线抗疫机构以及需要救助的社区人员手中。最近还将送出1,835份，合计送出22,713份，总价值40.5万美元。

As of May 31, the program has already exceeded its initial goal of $400,000 in meals and cash donations. Participating restaurants have donated 17,620 meals worth $320,000 and supporting parties and individuals contributed cash of $62,400, which was used to purchase 5,062 meals from the restaurants. As of today, a total of 20,878 meals have been delivered to 26 hospitals, testing sites, and police stations. Before the program ends on June 30, 2020, 1,835 additional meals will be delivered to sites in King County, which will conclude the program by successfully providing 22,713 meals.

爱心午餐行动第一阶段胜利完成，CCCWA，WSCRF和清华GIX三个非盈利机构又联合发起第二阶段行动：“你们帮助他们，我们帮助你们！” 行动呼吁社会各界继续捐款支持已经参与热心义捐的餐厅，用所得善款补贴他们所捐餐食的部分成本。众所周知，餐饮业在此次新冠疫情中遭受了前所未有的重创。在这种情况下，餐厅们依然挺身而出帮助别人。餐厅老板们的愿望简单又朴素，他们深爱这个城市，希望作为社区的一员尽到自己的力量。他们不计成本地做出美味又营养的食物，仿佛每天在进行厨艺大赛。这个特殊的行动，实际上也传播了中华美食文化，让更多的人爱上了中餐。

With the initial stage of the Food with Love program has been successfully completed, CCCWA, WSRF, and Tsinghua GIX (all three non-profits organizations) together kicked off the second phase of this program:  “You help them, we’ll help you!” The program calls for all corners of society to continue to donate and support those restaurants that have already enthusiastically participated in this effort. As we all know, the restaurant industry has suffered unprecedented costs from Covid-19. Even in this situation, restaurants have still stepped forward and helped others. The motivation of these restaurant owners is pure and simple—they deeply care about this city and want to put forth their best effort as members of their communities. They make gourmet and nutritious meals without consideration of costs, repeatedly every day as if they were in a  gastronomical competition. These activities are actually elevating and raising awareness of Chinese gourmet culture, making more people love and appreciate Chinese food.

颐和园北京烤鸭，在多个国内连锁店关闭的情况下，仍然咬紧牙关，慷慨解囊，以一片热诚关爱前线抗疫人员。

With so many of their restaurants closing in China, Imperial Garden continues to persevere and be generous, passionately caring for those frontline workers battling Covid-19.

IJ Sushi Burrito在这段时间里本来暂停营业，他们是专门为了爱心行动，来到店里辛勤工作。不少受赠人员表示非常感动。

IJ Sushi Burrito, which had originally temporarily closed, decided to stay open and prepare meals just for the Food with Love program.  Many beneficiaries of these donations have expressed how deeply they were moved by such kindness.

沸腾鱼乡的Leo和Lucy夫妇白手起家，在西雅图地区努力奋斗多年。这次在营业额骤降70%的情况下，仍然表示：“能够帮助到别人，是一种金钱买不到的快乐和幸福。希望出一份自己的力，能出多少就出多少，到最后如果我们撑不下去的时候再撤下来。”

Husband and wife Leo and Lucy, owners of Frying Fish, started their business from scratch and have worked hard for many years in the Seattle region. Even during a sudden 70% drop in business, “helping others is a kind of priceless happiness and fortune. We want to contribute as much as we can, and pull back only when we can’t hold on any longer.”

蓉城老火锅的青年老板娘Laura，每天忙得睡眠不足情况下，仍然坚持免费为医护人员亲手制作精美而创意无限的蛋糕。

The young owner of Chengdu Memory, Laura, despite a daily busy schedule that doesn’t grant her enough sleep, still makes beautiful and creative cakes for hospital workers with her own hands.

On June 8, the WSCRF deposited checks for nearly $24,000 into this charitable program. According to WSCRF and WSCRC President J. Norwell Coquillard, “The Washington State China Relations Fund is pleased to support this highly innovative and meaningful effort to support both our business community and those workers who are on the front line of the battle against Covid-19.  We are very pleased that our members and friends stepped up to help make this program a success. We enjoyed the opportunity to work with CCCWA and Tsinghua GIX and look forward to more cooperation in the future.”

爱心午餐行动于今年3月由华州中国总商会CCCWA和豆捞坊中餐厅、IJ Sushi Burrito发起，由本地区13家餐厅精心制作午餐，通过专业外卖平台chowbus派送给抗疫前线的医护人员、警察和消防员。CCCWA会长吕莉莉女士说：“面对共同的危机，我们选择站在一起。每个人的小爱心，汇集成整体的大爱心，我们是一个社区，一个整体。”

Initiated by CCCWA, the Dolar Shop Restaurant, and IJ Sushi Burrito, the program recruited 13 restaurants to prepare meals, which are delivered to beneficiaries including frontline healthcare professionals, police, and firefighters by Chowbus. The program would not have been possible without the generous donations from these participating restaurants. As explained by CCCWA President Lu Lili: “We choose to stand together when facing a common crisis. A little love from everyone combined becomes a lot of love. We’re one community, united.”

在行动的最初阶段，豆捞坊、IJ Sushi Burrito，刘一手火锅、沸腾鱼乡、颐和园北京烤鸭店和蓉城老火锅等6家知名餐厅承诺并全额捐赠了价值24.2万美元的爱心套餐。接着又有芙蓉湘、小肥羊、百味轩、上海味道坊、熊猫点心、九号巷火锅、晶晶外卖和Tamarindos等多家中餐厅、印度餐厅、泰餐厅和越南餐厅加入。整个过程中，也不断有协办组织和志愿者陆续加入行动。

At the start of the program, six well-known restaurants—the Dolar Shop, IJ Sushi Burrito, Liuyishou Hotpot, Frying Fish, Imperial Garden, and Chengdu Memory—promised to fully donate meals valued at $242,000. Shortly thereafter, more restaurants joined the program, including Sizzling Pot King, Little Sheep, J&J Chinese Restaurant, Shanghai House, Panda Dimsum, Number 9 Alley Pot King, Jingjing Market, and Tamarindos. Throughout the entire process, more  organizations and volunteers have continuously signed up to help.

清华GIX北美中心负责人郭文艳表示：“清华GIX自2016年底在西雅图成立以来，一向积极组织参与华州的创新教育活动。新冠疫情之下，我们更要走出教室，积极参与社区抗疫。很高兴这次与CCCWA和WSCRF合作，一起推动爱心行动，为工作在前线的医生、护士、服务人员，为深受影响的我们热爱的中餐和其他餐厅，为所有需要帮助的人们，踏踏实实做些事情。请大家支持我们的行动！”

Tsinghua GIX North American Managing Director Guo Wenyan said that: “Since Tsinghua GIX was founded in the Seattle area in early 2016, we’ve actively participated in innovation and education activities in Washington state. During the Covid-19 crisis, it’s been even more important for us to leave the classroom and join the fight against the pandemic. We’re thrilled to be able to partner with the CCCWA and WSCRF to promote the Food with Love Program and do such down-to-earth activities to support frontline doctors, nurses, and service providers, our favorite restaurants that have been deeply impacted, and people who need help. Seattle (May 21, 2020) – The Washington State China Relations Fund (WSCRF), this week received a donation of 40,000 surgical masks from the City of Shenzhen on behalf of the City of Seattle. This follows the WSCRF’s successful facilitation of a donation of 10,000 N95 masks from the City of Hangzhou to the City of Seattle last month. WSCRF’s involvement in this transaction helped to expedite the shipment and ensure that the masks could meet immediate needs.

The masks were delivered this week to the City of Seattle’s warehouse. They will be dispatched to the City’s first responders and social service providers to ensure their safety while providing urgent care.

These results come from multi-year outreach efforts by the Washington State China Relations Council (WSCRC) and the City of Seattle. In May 2016, the WSCRC helped to organize and lead a weeklong business mission to China that resulted in nine major agreements and investments between the City of Seattle and the City of Shenzhen. The WSCRC signed an agreement with the Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation to enhance strategic relationships and promote non-governmental cooperation between Shenzhen and Seattle. Over the years, the City and WSCRC have also hosted a number of delegations from Shenzhen. Shenzhen is also the home to BGI, one of the world’s largest genome sequencing companies. BGI has been working in partnership with Seattle institutions for years on global health initiatives, including on the current COVID-19 response, and maintains a team in Seattle.

Mayor Durkan expressed the City’s appreciation to the City of Shenzhen and looked forward to opportunities to build stronger ties between the two cities. The Mayor also commended the Washington State China Relations Council for its efforts to foster this important relationship over the years.

The WSCRF has accepted a donation of 200,000 surgical masks from Tsinghua University Education Foundation and is expecting that shipment to arrive in Seattle in the next week or two. These masks will be transferred to the State of Washington.

In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, members of Washington state’s Chinese community have rallied to raise funds and collect medical supplies for local hospitals throughout the Puget Sound region. While leaders at the federal level continually blame China for the virus, this community is stepping up in defiance of these racist attacks, committing resources, time and energy to support those who are most in need of help.

In February many local Chinese groups collected supplies and arranged to transport them to China to help stop the outbreak there. Julia and William Sun of Bellevue, owners of a fish processing business which buys Alaskan products and ships them to China for cleaning and packaging, have seen their business badly hurt by the U.S.-China trade war. Despite these difficulties the couple quickly used their business sourcing skills to buy personal protective equipment (PPEs) and arrange to have them transported to hospitals in China to help fight COVID-19. When the crisis came to the U.S. they began to donate their remaining inventory to Evergreen Health in Kirkland, the initial epicenter of the outbreak in the U.S.

Many other members of Washington’s Chinese community have taken similar actions. As COVID-19 began to spread rapidly throughout Western Washington, the United Chinese  Americans of Washington State  (UCAWA) quickly organized to raise funds and originate goods to donate to local hospitals. Under the motto “United We Stand”, this association has acted as the lead organization for over 65 local Chinese organizations. Hong Qi Wagner of Bellevue, who is directing the organization’s efforts, led an initial fund drive which resulted in a $140,000 donation to the Evergreen Hospital Foundation to help with the purchase of medical supplies. In addition to raising money, this organization has collected masks, gowns and goggles, which it has donated to over 45 hospitals, clinics and health centers in the Greater Seattle region.

The Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Washington (CCCWA), an association of Chinese companies that have operations in the state, initially pitched in to raise over $80,000 to purchase medical supplies for donation to local institutions.  Starting on March 30, the CCCWA launched a program called “Food with Love” with 15 local restaurants that has provided over 11,000 meals delivered to frontline healthcare workers and first responders at over 20 hospitals, police stations and mobile testing sites.  The program, which is scheduled to run until the end of June, plans to eventually raise $400,000 to support the delivery of over 17,500 meals.

The Guardians of Angeles, a foundation with Chinese American leadership, has recently imported 1.2 million masks to donate to medical facilities all around the country. The Foundation recently gifted 50,000 masks to the UW Medical Center.

Our organization, the Washington State China Relations Council, a non-profit organization founded in 1979 to promote economic, cultural and educations ties between the state and China, is working with its members and the Chinese community to coordinate efforts. We have been in frequent contact with the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai to identify reliable medical equipment suppliers in China and outline export procedures to move these products to Washington.  Our charitable arm, the Washington State China Relations Fund, has acted as the importer for a donation of masks from the City of Hangzhou and the City of Shenzhen in China to the City of Seattle and is in discussions with other organizations to expedite the imports of PPEs into the region.

Many of the Council’s members have been active in the fight against the coronavirus. Member companies such as Microsoft, Boeing, Starbucks and Himalayan Capital have contributed to fundraising efforts in Seattle to support the local community. Microsoft has and continues to find ways to source masks from overseas and to bring them in the area.

After acting quickly to source and ship products to China to fight COVID-19 just two months ago, the Chinese community in Washington rapidly shifted its focus to defeat the virus here at home. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, often after hearing from friends and loved ones, the Chinese community has demonstrated its support and solidarity with the wider community in the effort to defeat Covid-19.
