Breaking Down the U.S.-China Trade Relationship: Consequences at Home and Abroad

Since March 2018, the United States and China have slapped tariffs on each other’s goods, with the current U.S. administration threatening to impose duties on virtually all of the more than $500 billion of Chinese goods exported to the United States every year. While China and the United States are actively engaged in talks to try to find common ground, new rounds of tariffs are due to go into effect. Can a grand bargain be achieved between the two countries, or is an all-out trade war between these two economic superpowers inevitable?
